An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Dedridge Primary School ( Glenvue Nursery_. Dedridge PS is non-denominational primary school and nursery, serving part of the community of Dedridge in West Lothian. The school is situated in an area of multiple deprivations. The nursery is open term time Monday- Thursday.

The nursery roll is 33 which consists of 8 two-year-olds, 10 ante pre children and 15 pre-school children. The staff consists of the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and Principal Teacher with responsibility for the mainstream school and the ERB (Enhanced Resource Base). There is an additional Principal Teacher with line management responsibility for the ERB, overseen by the Head and Depute Head Teacher. There are 3 pupil support workers who support learners across the mainstream classes and 7 advanced pupil support workers who support the children in the resource classes.

Staff demonstrate strong collegiality and teamwork, and this maintains the positive climate for learning in the nursery. A strength of the nursery is strong partnerships working with partners including parents and the wider community, which is having a positive influence of the lives of children and their families. All children are nurtured and valued.

The post holder will provide support for Early Year Practitioners and children to enhance experiences and achievement for children. They will undertake a range of support activities with regard to general supervision, safety, care and well-being of the children.

The Post Holder will work with and support pupils within the nursery. They will be part of the nursery team involved in implementing nursery strategies to support the nurture and development of our children. Good communication skills are essential and you should enjoy working as part of a team.

The post holder will work in partnership with all stakeholders within Glenvue Nursery to ensure a high quality experience for our children.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
