Summary

Ready to take the next step in your Speech and Language Therapy Career?

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated Speech and Language Therapists to join our friendly and supportive Acute Adult & Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service. We have permanent full-time opportunities available within either our specialist Stroke Team or our Specialist Medicine  Teams.

These are substantive posts rather than rotational positions, offering the opportunity to develop expertise within your chosen clinical area while benefiting from the support, professional development opportunities and clinical supervision available within a large and experienced acute SLT department.

Whether you are looking to build on existing acute experience or further develop specialist skills, we can offer a rewarding role within a team that is committed to high-quality patient care, innovation and continuous improvement.

There are strong links with the wider MDT. There will be opportunities to develop leadership skills through projects and delivering training.  There might be a requirement to work at the weekend or bank holidays as part of a rota.

We are able to offer these posts as band 5 to 6 progression posts (subject to Annexe 21 guidance) dependent on prior experience.  The progression posts will be up to 12  months, working through a competency framework. Training, support, and supervision would be provided.

As a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist, you will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute hospital setting.

Depending on the team you join, you will have opportunities to work with:

Stroke Team-

Acute stroke and neurological conditions

Aphasia and cognitive communication disorders

Dysarthria and motor speech disorders

Dysphagia across the stroke pathway

Pathway development initiatives

Specialist Medicine Team

Complex medical, surgical and respiratory patients

Frailty and older persons services

Oncology,  and specialist inpatient pathways

Dysphagia and communication needs across a diverse caseload

We are proud of our welcoming team culture and commitment to staff development. We offer:

Regular clinical supervision and peer support

Structured professional development opportunities

Access to specialist training and competency frameworks

Opportunities to lead and participate in service improvement projects

Opportunities to deliver training and education to colleagues, students and multidisciplinary teams

Experience working alongside highly skilled SLTs and multidisciplinary colleagues

Support with leadership and service development skills

Opportunities to contribute to research, audit and evidence-based practice

With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation.

Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!
