About Us:Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.With over 800 staff, four main campuses, and an annual turnover of £60 million, Newham College is one of the borough’s largest employers and plays a key role in driving local economic and community development.The Role;We are looking to expand our pool of casual Exam Invigilators to support our friendly and experienced Exams Team in the delivery of examinations across ALL college campuses.As an Exam Invigilator, you will play a vital role in ensuring examinations are conducted fairly, securely and in accordance with JCQ and awarding body regulations. You will help create a calm and supportive environment that enables students to perform to the best of their ability, while maintaining the integrity of the examination process at all times.This is a casual, hourly paid role. While working patterns will vary according to the examination timetables, candidates should be available between 8:00am and 4:00pm on at least three weekdays.Flexibility is essential, as shifts may occasionally be offered at short notice during peak examination periods. Preferred campus location can be discussed at interview.Please note: Due to the anticipated high level of interest in this role, we may close this vacancy earlier than the advertised closing date if we receive a sufficient number of applications. Early application is therefore strongly encouraged.Key responsibilities.Ensuring the examination room is conducive to examination conditionsSupervising candidates before, during and after an examSupervising clash candidates between sittingsPreparing exam roomsDistributing and collecting examination papers, scripts &materials from candidates at the start and end of exams in accordance with the JCQ regulationsSupporting the Exams Team with day-to-day management of the examinations processOur Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.The ability to work independently and as part of a team.A calm, confident and reassuring manner when working with students.The ability to remain vigilant and maintain concentration for extended periods.A flexible approach to work.A commitment to maintaining the integrity, security and fairness of examinations.While previous experience in exam invigilation, particularly within a Further Education setting, is advantageous, it is not essential.Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable AdultsIn line with Keeping Children Safe in Education All employment offers are subject employment checks.
