Could you be our next Senior Design Officer within our Building Design Unit?
In this role you will provide a senior professional architectural service within the Council's Building Design Unit, reporting to the Design Coordinator. You will lead and support the delivery of new build and refurbishment projects across the Council's operational property portfolio, provide contract administration services, mentor professional and technical staff, and help ensure the Council achieves Best Value while meeting all contractual, statutory and legal obligations.
What we are looking for…
The ideal person for this role will be a qualified Architect with significant experience delivering architectural projects within a multidisciplinary environment. You will be proactive, organised and solutions-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities while providing professional leadership and mentoring to colleagues. You will have a strong commitment to quality design, sustainable development and excellent customer service.
You will also have:
- A Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
- Membership of the Architects Registration Board (ARB) or equivalent professional body.
- Significant experience in architectural project delivery and contract administration.
- Strong project management, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing and mentoring professional and technical staff.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, health and safety requirements and relevant national guidance.
- Practical experience of AutoCAD, Revit, NBS and related design software.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to advise, negotiate and influence others.
