Calderdale Adult Learning is on a journey to become an exceptional provider, with learners at the centre of everything we do. We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and adaptable Essential Skills and Employability Tutor to deliver high-quality learning across our community programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with adult learners who are often returning to education, training or employment and need support to develop their skills, confidence and aspirations. We are looking for an excellent practitioner with experience of delivering English, maths and digital/IT skills, alongside employability and personal development programmes that help learners progress towards positive next steps.

The successful candidate will assess learners' starting points and plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and learner-centred learning that meets individual needs and supports achievement. You will create a positive and supportive learning environment where learners feel valued, motivated and able to succeed.

You will take a creative and flexible approach to teaching, using a range of strategies and activities to develop learners' confidence, communication, problem-solving and workplace skills. An ability to deliver additional employability, vocational or community learning programmes would be advantageous.

An important aspect of the role is providing high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), helping learners identify realistic progression opportunities into employment, training, volunteering or further learning. You will monitor learner progress, celebrate achievement and work collaboratively with colleagues to support positive outcomes for learners.

The successful candidate will be a strong team player who is proactive, learner-focused and committed to high-quality adult learning. You will embed safeguarding, equality, diversity, British Values and Prevent within your teaching practice and contribute positively to the continued development of Calderdale Adult Learning. A minimum Level 3 teaching qualification and experience of teaching adult learners are essential.

Working hours are spread across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and applicants must be available to work on these days.

If you would like an informal chat or a visit to Calderdale Adult Learning to see what we offer, please contact maxine.malcolm@calderdale.gov.uk or 01422 392846.
