We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Grounds Operative to join our Estate Services team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in maintaining attractive, safe, and well-presented neighbourhoods for our residents. Working across a designated patch, you will deliver high-quality grounds maintenance services while helping to enhance the environment and appearance of our estates. You will work closely with colleagues, residents, and contractors to ensure our outdoor spaces remain places people can be proud of.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Grounds Operative, you will you will take pride in maintaining communal green spaces and delivering visible improvements across our estates.
Your duties will include:
- Grass cutting using a variety of powered and manual equipment
- Maintaining shrub beds, hedges, flower beds, and landscaped areas
- Carrying out pruning, planting, turfing, and general horticultural works
- Undertaking weed control and vegetation management activities
- Maintaining communal grounds and outdoor areas to agreed service standards
- Identifying and reporting hazards, environmental issues, and repair requirements
- Supporting estate inspections and environmental improvement initiatives
- Operating grounds maintenance machinery and equipment safely
- Using handheld devices to record completed work and report issues
- Assisting with biodiversity and environmental enhancement projects
- Supporting winter services, including gritting and snow clearance
- Assisting with garden clearances, environmental clean-ups, and other estate services activities where required
- Supporting colleagues and contractors to ensure an excellent service is delivered to residents
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is reliable, takes pride in their work, and enjoys working outdoors as part of a team.
You will have:
- Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscaping, or a similar environment
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and safe working practices
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A practical and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A commitment to delivering high standards and excellent customer service
- Experience of using handheld devices or willingness to learn
- A full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to support weekend rota duties and seasonal demands where required
