An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trauma & Orthopaedic Team at Scarborough & Bridlington Hospital.
We're looking for a dynamic Specialty Doctor to join us.
The team currently consists of 8 Orthopaedic surgeons providing on call, trauma and elective services at Scarborough & Bridlington Hospitals. We have a 20 bedded trauma ward on the Scarborough site, a 16 bedded elective ward, a busy outpatient department adjacent to A&E and several outreach outpatient clinics. We have an established multi-disciplinary team working alongside the surgeons, including Extended Scope Physiotherapists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Generally we would expect you to be working between 5 and 6 clinical sessions per week, whilst on their elective weeks with 10 sessions of trauma activity (the trauma week).
Staffing
8 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 5 Specialty Doctors, 2 Specialist training posts, 2 Core Surgical doctors, 2 FY1 Doctors.
Candidatesmust have full GMC Registration, while a familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous.
The recruitment programme for this position will take place over one day (please note that shortlisted candidates will need to be available to attend the Trust on all of the required dates.
The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients within the trust area.
• To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor.
• To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.
• To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
• On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s Corporate Induction.
• To participate in the Trust’s statutory and mandatory training programme.
• To fully participate in the Consultant Peer Support Scheme and ensure personal attendance, when invited, at the Consultant Development Programme during your first year in post.
• To be responsible for the clinical management of in and outpatients under your care.
