Ophthalmology Consultant

Contract Type: Locum

Salary: £100

Job Type: Full time

Consultant Ophthalmologist with significant experience in the management and treatment of Corneal / External Diseases.

About You

You're a clinically confident Ophthalmology Consultant with strong surgical skills and up‑to‑date knowledge across general ophthalmology and cataract surgery. You value teamwork, communicate clearly and take pride in delivering a positive patient experience.

You're committed to maintaining high standards of care, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to continuous service improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

Minimum six months recent NHS experience

Strong cataract surgery experience and broad general ophthalmology competence

Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development

Clear and confident communication skills

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Compassionate, patient‑centred approach

Desirable Skills & Experience

Subspecialty interest such as oculoplastic, cornea, glaucoma or medical retina

Experience contributing to ophthalmology service development

Teaching or supervisory experience

Involvement in audit, quality improvement or research activity
