Year 5 Teacher – The Role

• Year 5 Teacher

• Hackney, East London

• Primary school

• Long-term, full-time role through agency

• November 2026

• Monday to Friday, full-time

• Teaching a Year 5 class

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the KS2 curriculum

• Supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development

• Working closely with the class teacher, SLT and wider school team

Year 5 Teacher – Key Responsibilities

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons across the Year 5 curriculum.

• Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all pupils.

• Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.

• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and progress.

• Assess pupil progress and use this to inform future planning.

• Support pupils with their academic and personal development.

• Encourage pupils to become confident, independent learners.

• Manage behaviour effectively using consistent and positive strategies.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school team.

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers where required.

Year 5 Teacher – About You

The successful Year 5 Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent.

• Previous experience teaching in a primary school, ideally within KS2.

• Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum.

• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.

• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.

• A positive, enthusiastic and nurturing approach.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.

• A proactive, organised and flexible approach.

• A genuine passion for teaching and helping children achieve their potential.
