JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant (PA)

About Me

I am a 22-year-old young man from Llanharry. I have Cerebral Palsy, which affects my mobility, so I use an electric wheelchair. I have good communication skills and a wicked sense of humour. In my spare time, I enjoy playing chess and watching Doctor Who.

As I am unable to transfer independently, I require the use of a fully functioning ceiling track hoist which runs through my bedroom and into the bathroom. I am quite a patient person, and I am happy to explain things that are unique to my home or equipment, but I am seeking someone who can think for themselves and use their own initiative.

I will also need assistance with some personal care, including toileting.

I am looking for a friendly and reliable Personal Assistant (or assistants) to support me in my home and help me maintain my independence.

Hours of Work

17.5 hours per week

2.5 hours per day across 7 days

Morning, lunchtime and bedtime support calls

Applications from one or more Personal Assistants are welcome to cover the required hours.

Rate of Pay

£15.35 per hour

Main Duties

You will be required to:

Provide safe support with manual handling using a hoist and sling.

Assist with transfers to and from my specialist shower chair and electric wheelchair.

Support with the application of a convene system.

Assist with dressing and personal care.

Provide support with toileting.

Prepare meals and drinks.

Help keep my bedroom clean and tidy.

Ensure my safety and wellbeing at all times.

ABOUT THE JOB

This post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS check.

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid every month on receipt of a payslip from Dewis Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata).

You will be required to attend any training that is identified as necessary.

Thank you.
