An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time enthusiastic, well-motivated Health Care Assistant to join Lincoln Renal Unit.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 to work within the haemodialysis units in Lincoln Dialysis Unit. The unit is caring 75 patients. Our shift pattern are early- 07:00- 15:00, early long day 07:00 to 18:00, late- 15:00 to 23:00, late long day- 12:00 to 23:00.
You must have previous HCA experience working and ideally hold an NVQ3 or equivalent. Previous experience in renal is desirable but not essential, as full support and training will be given. The team that you will be joining is dedicated to training and promoting your continuous professional development.
The successful candidate will be flexible, demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to personal and professional development and a desire to provide a high standard of care delivery to chronically ill patients.

Undertake specified and unsupervised aspects of care and therapeutic intervention as delegated by the Registered Health Care Professional within an agreed protocol, sphere of responsibility and after completing appropriate competency based training agreed by the Trust.
Following a period of competency based training and under the direction of a registered health care professional the post holder will:
- Assist with essential nursing care.
- Perform vital sign observations, accurately before, during and after dialysis treatment.
- Record vital observations in the Dialysis charts and input observation in proton and report back to a registered nurse / health professional.
Always maintain communication with the registered nurses in the team allocated to work during the entire shift.
• Wheel/ escort patients before and after treatment to the waiting area.
• Weigh patients before and after treatment and record weight in the HD chart , report to the registered nurse as accordingly.
• Perform weekly feet checking to diabetic patients and monthly feet check to non diabetic patients.
• Obtain blood samples monthly or as necessary to dialysis patients via aterious venous fistula.
• Complete e-learnings and mandatory training.
• Perform tea rounds in the absence of house keepers
• Responsible to ensure that the desk area, computers, beds , dialysis chairs sharp bin are clean every shift and all forms are sign.
• Assist patients when using commode/ urine bottles during dialysis treatment.
• Responsible to clean and put machine to disinfection every after taking off patient from the machine.
• Ensures that dialysis trolleys are restock with all the dialysis consumables
