Our 4 school values are Honesty, Kindness and Respect. In session 2025/2026, aspiration was added as a fourth school value.

The successful candidate will support the vision for the school and implement strategies to achieve this vision. This is a key post which comes at an exciting time for education. Inveralmond Community High School is a comprehensive non-denominational school situated in the Ladywell area of Livingston and serves a cluster of six primary schools, two of which have recently merged in anticipation of a new campus which is being built in Craigshill.

The school roll is currently 925 pupils and the school is a very supportive environment with a relentless focus on driving up standards.

The School provides high quality education for young people from first year through to sixth year, offering a full Scottish curriculum.  The successful candidate will have the necessary experience to improve curriculum, learning and teaching, and achievement and attainment in the faculty.

Effective learning and teaching is the core business of all staff. It is essential that all staff set high expectations to encourage young people to be all they can be in order that they achieve their full potential.

Pupil participation is key, all middle leaders have a role to play in promoting participation in the wider life of the school.

As a Community School we have outstanding facilities.  These include sports facilities such as swimming pool, two floodlit all-weather pitches, Dance and Drama studios, as well as ICT suites and multi-media Library.  These are all available to our pupils during the day and after school.

West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services. These changes include giving you the support and environment that you need to get on with your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and always aiming a little higher in our service delivery and improvements.

We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary
