Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Dementia UK in a newly created role, leading our Business and Governance Support team. You will establish a high-quality, coordinated service that supports our Trustees and Executive Team.
As Business and Governance Manager, you will lead the operational delivery of our Board and committee processes. This will include planning meeting cycles, coordinating papers, recording decisions and actions, and maintaining accurate records. Working closely with the Company Secretary, Trustees and Executive Team, you will help ensure governance arrangements operate effectively and that responsibilities, decisions and accountabilities are clear.
You will also lead and develop our Business and Governance Support team, including managing our Executive Assistant and Governance Administrator. You will create a collaborative and high-performing team, ensuring resources are used effectively and colleagues receive a professional and responsive service.
You will also strengthen the business support arrangements that help our Trustees and Executive Team work effectively. You will improve systems, forward planning and information flows, establish clear service standards and identify practical opportunities to simplify how work is coordinated.
You will bring significant experience of supporting boards and committees and managing governance, business management or executive support services, ideally within a charity or another complex organisation. You will also have experience of leading people, improve processes and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
You will be a confident and thoughtful communicator who can build trusted relationships at all levels. You will know when to influence or challenge constructively, handle sensitive information with discretion and collaborate with others to find practical solutions.
As a key point of contact for Trustees and other stakeholders, you will represent Dementia UK professionally and demonstrate our values of compassion, collaboration, integrity and ambition.
This is a hybrid role. You will be expected to work from our office two days each week and will need to be flexible to attend on additional or alternative days when required for Board, Committee, Executive or senior leadership meetings.
