Job objectives and responsibilities
Role PurposeThe Regional Training Manager is responsible for leading the delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of learning and development across their allocated zone. The role ensures colleagues have the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet operational standards, deliver exceptional service, and comply with contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements.Key Responsibilities1. Learning Delivery & Facilitation- Deliver engaging, high‑quality, and operationally relevant training to colleagues across multiple DWP sites.- Facilitate a range of learning formats including classroom, on‑site, virtual, and blended delivery.- Deliver targeted training sessions to support operational excellence and contract‑specific requirements.- Deliver “Train the Trainer” programmes to support consistent rollout through Officer Development Leads (ODLs).2. Capability Development- Identify skills gaps and development needs using performance data, feedback, and operational insight.- Design and deliver development interventions for frontline, supervisory and management roles.- Contribute to leadership development initiatives, including the Management Academy.- Support apprentices and colleagues undertaking structured development programmes.3. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration- Act as the primary L&D partner for Assignment Mangers, Customer Service Managers, Area Managers, and Regional Managers.- Work closely with the People Business Partner to align delivery with contract strategy.- Collaborate with ODLs to ensure consistent induction, upskilling and capability development across the zone.4. Compliance & Standards- Ensure delivery and completion of all mandatory and regulatory training.- Lead the coordination of Physical Intervention training and refresher scheduling.- Maintain accurate training and compliance records and support audit requirements.5. Continuous Improvement & Evaluation- Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements.- Support enhancements to officer assessment processes and Centres of Excellence.- Contribute to the design of innovative, digital, and contract‑specific learning products.Leadership Responsibilities- Provide coaching and support to ODLs, building a strong learning culture.- Model Mitie's values and promote continuous capability growth.- Line‑manage L&D practitioners where required.Key Skills & ExperienceEssential- Strong facilitation, coaching and presentation skills.- Experience delivering training in field‑based or multi‑site environments.- Ability to build effective relationships across all organisational levels.- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.- High attention to detail and strong organisation.- Must hold a valid SIA licence (ideally DS) and UK driver's licence.Desirable- L&D qualification (CIPD or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.- Experience in large‑scale contracts, security, retail or logistics.Key Behaviours- Customer‑focused, collaborative and solutions‑oriented.- Demonstrates integrity, trust and professionalism.- Adaptable and resilient.- Promotes an inclusive and supportive learning culture.Success Measures- Completion and compliance rates for all training.- Improvements in operational performance linked to learning.- Capability and consistency of ODL delivery.- Positive learner and stakeholder feedback.
