Location: Bedford
12-month Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave, starting in January 2027
The Vacancy
Our client is seeking a Statistician to cover a period of maternity leave to provide statistical expertise and support across R&D, Clinical, Product Support, Marketing and other business functions as required. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the role will contribute to the design, analysis and interpretation of studies and data, ensuring robust statistical methodologies are applied to support product development, evidence generation and business decision-making.

What you'll be doing
As one of three Statisticians within the Statistical & Data Services Team you will…
- Provide statistical support throughout the product lifecycle, including concept development, verification and validation activities, product performance evaluation and post-market surveillance
- Support the development and evaluation of product algorithms and statistical methodologies
- Contribute to the generation of evidence supporting product claims and performance
- Review study protocols and provide statistical input on study design, methodology and analysis plans
- Advise project teams on appropriate statistical methods and effective approaches to data collection
- Perform statistical analyses using appropriate techniques to meet project objectives.
- Interpret and communicate statistical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Act as the statistical representative for assigned projects and business activities
- Contribute to project planning by providing input on study design, sample size considerations and analysis requirements
- Attend project meetings and provide advice on statistical considerations, risks and opportunities
- Support the management of statistical deliverables to agreed timelines and quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Statistical & Data Services Team
- Actively participate in team discussions, knowledge sharing and problem-solving activities
- Communicate statistical concepts clearly and effectively to non-statistical audiences
About You
They're looking for a Statistician who has…
Essential Experience
- A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or another quantitative discipline
- Experience applying statistical techniques in a commercial, academic or research setting
- Knowledge of experimental design, statistical modelling and data analysis methodologies
- Experience using statistical software such as SAS, R, Python or equivalent
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to verbally communicate technical findings to a range of audiences
Desirable
- A Masters in Statistics or a related discipline
- Experience within medical devices, diagnostics, healthcare, pharmaceuticals or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements relating to healthcare products or clinical evidence generation
