Summary

Are you looking for a finance role where you can combine strong technical skills with innovation, improvement and real impact? At South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, you will be joining an organisation with well-established community links and a strong reputation for delivering high-quality mental health services across Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth, as well as specialist services for people across the UK.

Guided by our mission of making life better together, and by our values of being respectful, open, compassionate, collaborative and consistent, we are looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking finance professional to join our Financial Management team at an exciting time for the Trust.

In this role, you will play an important part in helping the Finance Directorate deliver high-quality financial reporting, monthly management information and Trust-wide improvement projects. You will work closely with finance colleagues, operational and corporate teams, and digital partners to strengthen reporting, improve processes and make better use of data across the organisation.

A key part of the role will be identifying and delivering opportunities for innovation and automation, using tools such as Power BI, AI etc. to reduce manual processes, improve data quality and support better decision making.

Unless expressly stated in the job advert this role is not subject to sponsorship, please be advised that all offers of employment are subject to evidence of right to work in the UK.

We are Proud to Belong at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.

We have expert services, a rich history and a clear commitment to providing the best quality care for those with mental ill-health. The Care Quality Commission already rates our services as ‘good’ - we aspire to be ‘outstanding’.

This is a great time to join us. We are transforming the way we care for our communities to support our mission of Making Life Better Together. We have built two brand new mental health facilities at Springfield University Hospital, which are amongst the best in the world. More developments are planned across our sites and services as we invest a further £120m to upgrade and modernise our estate by 2027.

We are inclusive and diverse and strive to be actively anti racist. We want to attract people from all backgrounds and experiences to enrich the work we do together. We are proud to co-produce and involve our local communities in all that we do.

We offer flexible working, career development and a variety of benefits to enable a positive, welcoming environment in which our people and their careers can thrive.

Come and join our inclusive teams and help our patients on their recovery journey.

About you

You may be a CCAB qualified accountant, finalist or professionally recognised equivalent with strong financial management experience, excellent analytical skills and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders. You will be someone who is highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and motivated by improving how finance services are delivered.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring curiosity, creativity and a practical approach to problem solving. If you enjoy challenging existing ways of working constructively, turning ideas into measurable improvements and using data to support better decisions, this could be a great opportunity for you. Experience of NHS finance, Power BI, automation or digital transformation would be valuable, but above all we are looking for someone with the enthusiasm and drive to make a difference.

Our offer to you

In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive finance team, contribute to meaningful improvement across a major mental health Trust and help shape how financial management services evolve. We offer excellent learning and development opportunities, a collaborative working environment and the chance to build experience across both core finance and digital improvement work.

If you are passionate about high-quality financial management, curious about digital innovation and keen to make a positive difference to how services are supported, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in job applications

If you have used AI to support the preparation of your application, please briefly indicate how it was used within your supporting statement or application form.

Please remember, your application is your opportunity to tell us about your skills, experience and motivation for the role. We encourage applicants to complete their application and supporting statement in their own words wherever possible. We recognise that AI tools can be helpful in supporting accessibility, and for improving spelling, grammar and structure.

Applications that rely heavily on AI-generated content can become generic and fail to accurately reflect an applicant's individual experience. Applications that clearly demonstrate your own voice, reflections and experiences are often the most effective and help us better understand your suitability for the role.

Please be aware that information provided in your application and supporting statement may be explored further during the selection process. It is important that all applications accurately represent your own knowledge, skills and experience.
