Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Officer to join a well-established education organisation in Leamington Spa on a temporary-to-permanent basis. Working closely with headteachers and the wider finance team, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management of a portfolio of schools.
Your responsibilities will include producing monthly management accounts, analysing budget variances and providing meaningful commentary on financial performance. You will meet regularly with headteachers, both in person and remotely, to discuss financial results and provide support with budget planning and forecasting.
You will assist in the preparation of annual budgets, maintain accurate pupil number forecasts, and contribute to the development of three-year financial plans. The role will also involve reconciling monthly payroll reports against budgets and forecasts, ensuring balance sheet payroll controls are accurately maintained, and overseeing the recording and distribution of charity income. This is a varied position which requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to strict deadlines.

To be successful in this role, you will have previous finance experience and a strong understanding of core accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments. Experience working within the education, schools, or wider public sector environment is essential.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including headteachers and senior leaders. Strong IT skills are required, particularly across finance systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Office applications.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised and proactive, with a solutions-focused approach to their work. You will be comfortable working collaboratively within a team whilst also managing your own workload independently. A commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, safeguarding and continuous professional development is essential.
What you'll get in return
In return, you'll join a supportive and collaborative organisation that is committed to making a positive impact within education. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, develop your technical and commercial finance skills, and gain valuable experience within a growing and rewarding sector.
