Summary

Job Title GP Receptionist Fixed Term Maternity Cover Hours 38 hours per week Working Pattern Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:00am6:30pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break each day.Wednesday off. Contract Fixed term for 12 months initially to cover maternity leave. Salary £12.85 per hour Location Manor & Park Group Practice working across both surgery sites. Accountable To Reception Supervisors and Practice Manager / Operational Manager Job Purpose To provide a friendly, professional and efficient reception and administrative service to patients, clinicians and colleagues. The postholder will support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, help patients access the appropriate services and provide administrative support to the wider multidisciplinary team. The role requires excellent communication, confidentiality, good organisation, flexibility and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy primary care environment. Main Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of the post may include: Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice in a friendly and professional manner. Answering incoming telephone calls and dealing with enquiries appropriately. Taking accurate messages and passing information to the appropriate member of the team. Supporting GPs and clinicians with online triage requests using Accurx. Managing and monitoring the practice appointment system. Processing patient requests and directing them to the appropriate service or member of staff. Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures. Managing practice emails and electronic communications. Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information. Providing general administrative support to the clinical and management teams. Supporting other reception and administrative colleagues during busy periods. Providing cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave and sickness. Working flexibly across both practice sites as required. Using SystmOne and other practice IT systems following appropriate training. Following practice procedures for confidentiality, information governance and data protection. Maintaining a professional and helpful approach when dealing with patients, including during difficult or challenging conversations. The duties may be varied from time to time depending on the changing needs of the practice. Confidentiality The postholder will have access to confidential and sensitive information relating to patients, carers, staff, healthcare professionals and the practice. All information must be treated as strictly confidential and only shared with authorised individuals in accordance with practice policies, UK GDPR, data protection legislation and NHS information governance requirements. The postholder must: Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Ensure records and information are handled securely. Only access information necessary to undertake their role. Follow practice procedures relating to confidentiality and information governance. Health and Safety The postholder will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors and will: Follow the practice Health and Safety Policy. Use workplace security systems and procedures appropriately. Identify and report potential hazards and risks. Undertake work activities in a manner that manages risk appropriately. Follow infection prevention and control procedures. Maintain work areas in a clean, safe and tidy condition. Complete required Health and Safety training.
