Job Description:
A Direct Payments client s family in Pembrokeshire are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support their family member to access the community. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client s family to manage their support and meet their family members care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. It would be beneficial if the applicant has some experience of Additional learning needs (Autism, PDA and ADHD). A keen interest in engineering projects would be desirable. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions and support in times of anxiety.
The main duties to be included in this role are:
• Supporting the client when attending activities of their interest (likes trains, painting and boats)
• Being patient and calming during times of anxiousness
• Supporting the client with encouragement in gaining independence.
• Prompt with personal care
• Enabling the client to interact socially in their community
• To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
• Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
