Summary
Are you an experienced Bus, Coach or HGV Mechanic looking for a secure, permanent position in Glasgow?
We are looking for a skilled and dependable
Bus and Coach Mechanic to join our engineering team at our
Charles Street depot. You will play an essential role in keeping our varied fleet safe, reliable and ready to serve our passengers.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out routine inspections, servicing, preventative maintenance and running repairs on buses and coaches
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
- Preparing vehicles for MOT and completing safety checks
- Repairing vehicle defects promptly and to a consistently high standard
- Maintaining vehicles in accordance with our operator’s licence requirements
- Completing maintenance records and other relevant documentation accurately
- Organising and prioritising your workload effectively
- Working independently and collaboratively with the wider engineering team
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and workmanship at all times
What you’ll need
You should have either:
- An SVQ or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Bus and Coach Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent discipline; or
- At least two years’ demonstrable experience repairing and maintaining public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles
You will also need:
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Good organisational and communication skills
- The flexibility to work five days over seven
- A full driving licence
A
Category D PCV licence would be an advantage but is not essential, as we can support you in obtaining your licence.
