We're looking for a Handyperson / Caretaker who will support the Facilities Manager in delivering a high-quality maintenance and facilities service, ensuring the site remains safe, clean, compliant and operational at all times.
Role Responsibilities
-Carry out general porterage, cleaning duties (including cell cleaning), and maintain internal and external areas, entrances and surrounding grounds.
-Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks, routine inspections of plant and equipment, and report any breakdowns or faults.
-Undertake minor repairs to property, fixtures, fittings and equipment, including replacement of lamps, light bulbs, and addressing minor plumbing issues such as blocked drains and toilets.
-Carry out painting and decorating duties as directed by management and assist with room setups, including AV equipment, sound systems, media equipment and furniture.
-Receive, check and store deliveries, liaise with colleagues and contractors, and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the site.
Required Qualifications:Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
-Previous experience working as a Handyperson, Caretaker, Maintenance Assistant, Fabric Engineer or in a similar maintenance role.
-Experience within a customer-facing environment and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and customers.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive approach and strong attention to detail.
-Good understanding of health and safety requirements, manual handling and safe systems of work.
-Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel between sites within a 10-mile radius.

Additional Information:
-Permanent, Full-Time Position
-Shift Pattern: 2 Days, 2 Nights, followed by 4 Days Off
-Compliance Requirement: West Yorkshire Police Vetting
-Primary location: Wakefield (WF6) with potential cover required at Leeds and Carr Gate sites
