Summary

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will act as the clinical expert and professionalresource to the multi- professional team, patients and carers within theirSpeciality Service. The post holder will have a responsibility to develop the specialist area of practicein partnership with other members of the speciality team will work collaborativelyto develop services and improve the quality of care delivered. The post holder will carry responsibility for either a defined case load or offeringhighly specialist service advise this will include setting standards of care, theassessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluationof programmes of care, management and education. The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of the clinical servicegroup / speciality corporate objectives and work within the clinical governanceframework. This will be achieved through the core dimensions of the role, clinical practice,leadership, acting as the patient advocate and through audit and education. Take patient history counselling newly diagnosed eye cancer patients and maintaining the Holistic Needs Assessment Carry out Pre-assessment and consent taking for oncology treatments and support the team with planning surgeries ensuring compliance with the 62day pathway Take Consent for Bio-Bank research and be involved in any relevant research Liaise with other Trusts / GPs/opticians and multi disciplinary teams involved with the patients and their cancer journey Effective communication and triaging for eye cancer patients, both pre and postoperative Via email or telephone. Participation in the ocular oncology MDT Carry out Fundus Fluoresceine angiography / photodynamic therapy/ prep for intravitreal injections and any other one stop treatment Admin time
