Summary

Edinburgh has been one of our strongest cities: 50 applicants since 3 October, 13 accounts, and eight walking businesses set up in EH postcodes, five of them with prices live, mostly starting at £8 to £13 a walk. None has had a booking yet, so there is no queue to join at the back of. We want five more walkers, especially in Leith, the south side and out towards Portobello.

WoofWalk is a UK app where owners book a nearby walker. You are self-employed on it. Your prices, your hours, your choice of bookings; owners pay through the app and you are paid out. We do not employ you, there is no wage, and we do not promise work.

Local going rates from public sitter listings: half-hour walks £7 to £23, typically £16; group walks £13 to £15; a home visit about £14; home boarding around £35 a night. We show you what you would keep at any price before you commit to it.

Walks here mean Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat, Inverleith, the Meadows, the Hermitage of Braid and the beaches at Portobello and Cramond. Holyrood Park has signed on-lead areas, so expect to read the signs.

The deal: free to join. First 14 days commission-free, then 15% of each booking, dropping to 10% for life after five clients join through you. Your own tax, National Insurance and insurance.
