Summary

Job title:

SHEQ Manager

Location: Chatham

Salary: £45,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week

The role:

We are looking for a proactive, practical and confident SHEQ Manager to play a key role in improving standards across the site. You will be responsible for strengthening quality, health & safety, environmental and compliance processes, while working closely with teams across the business to drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities would be to:

  • Maintain and improve the QMS.
  • Lead internal and external audits.
  • Manage customer complaints, NCRs and corrective actions.
  • Drive reductions in defects, reworks and customer returns.
  • Manage risk assessments, SSOW and accident investigations.
  • Oversee contractor management and inductions.
  • Drive employee engagement.
  • Support the future development of the EMS.
  • Champion workplace standards and best practices.
  • Support 5S and operational excellence initiatives.

Experience and skills required:

  • Previous experience in a SHEQ, HSEQ or Compliance leadership role.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Good working knowledge of health & safety compliance and legislation.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Wants to make a genuine difference within a growing business.
  • Passionate about building and improving systems.
  • Confident challenging poor standards in a constructive way.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.

This is a hands-on, improvement-focused role, with regular time spent on the shop floor.
