Summary
Duties/Responsibilities:The post holder must be able to demonstrate:Expertise and a proven track record in system design, application architecture, programming, procedural, declarative or structured querying programming language. Technical knowledge of MS SQL relational databases, database design and the Structured Query Language. Proven experience using Visual Studio to write software code and produce elegant, robust and maintainable software applications. Proven experience using current C# ASP.NET versions 8 and above A command of the principles of good software design using the principles of SOLID and object-oriented programming. Practical experience using source control systems (i.e. Git). Undertake responsibility for own code and review others code to ensure quality and adherence to our software standards. Engage and liaise with end users and project stakeholders (project managers/BAs) to identify system and information requirements. Discuss progress and notify senior staff of impediments during regular team meetings. Discuss ideas with colleagues and review tasks and priorities in collaboration with other team members and senior staff. Contribute ideas on how the team can become more effective. Actively listen to the advice and guidance of colleagues and tune behaviour accordingly for example listen to suggestions from colleagues during pair programming sessions and code reviews. Speak confidently to groups of users or peers; Demonstrating ideas, concepts and software and answering questions. Discuss ideas with their line manager on ways to improve their performance and advance personal development - at personal development reviews, for example. Continual upgrading of skills to reflect rapid changes in technology. This is achieved through formal training; informal skills transfer and self-tuition. Influence and participate in defining standards for development through research and implementation of new technologies and solutions. Plan own workload and activities over short to medium periods to meet project deadlines and provide user support, this often involves multiple complex projects and support incidents. Prioritise own workload to resolve conflicts between project and support tasks which involves re-planning; escalating to the Software Development Manager when required. Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify service needs and to enable the realisation of business value. Able to proactively identify opportunities to improve a service for stakeholders.The post holder must be familiar with Windows PC and server operating systems.The post holder shall be expected to:- Follow good development practice by adhering to the organisations conventions for checking software code into source control systems. Contribute to the production of suitable quality control records (such as problem or change records) for application and system software changes. Knowledge share, support and mentor team members in ensuring that software applications have full patch and version control in place and that the organisation has a comprehensive record of all these amendments. Implement system software upgrades as and when required. Communication Required to communicate with staff, patients and stakeholders at all levels from different disciplines. Represent the department (at the request of the Software Development Manager) internally and externally at multi-disciplinary working groups / meetings and co-ordinate information responses. Will be required to communicate highly complex technical advice in a non-technical way so the end user can understand. Receive and interpret highly complex information from a variety of sources. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Human Resources To participate in the appraisal process for EEC NHS Trust and take responsibility for working with line manager to identify an appropriate personal development plan. To knowledge share and support other colleagues/teams or services going through change. To maintain own professional development and requirement to take part in appraisal and Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) process. Responsibility for Financial & Physical Resources Responsible for the provision of technical solutions in the delivery and maintenance of a trust wide web solutions and for IT assets. Research & Development Activity Required to undertake R&D activity on a regular basis, once a month or more. R&D activity is a major job requirement, at least 20% of the working Clinical and Practice Governance Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to EEC Information Governance and Information Security policies. The post holder must adhere to EEC risk assessment and risk management processes The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by EEC . The post holder must participate in clinical and other audits as required. The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team. Working conditions: Flexibility and resilience is required due to working in a dynamic and fast paced team with competing priorities. The post holder will be expected to be able to meet the flexible working requirements of the role. Ability to work remotely or from hot desk facilities at different sites is essential.
