Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for a role where you can make a real difference?

Falkirk Council is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Health & Safety Adviser to join our Health, Safety & Wellbeing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a large and diverse organisation, supporting a wide range of services while helping to improve health, safety and wellbeing standards across the Council.

You will have the opportunity to support a diverse portfolio of services, providing both operational and strategic health and safety support. This an ideal role for an adviser who enjoys variety, challenge and the opportunity to influence positive change.

You will play a key role in shaping the Council’s health and safety management arrangements, influencing positive behaviours, supporting risk management activities and contributing to the development of a strong safety culture.  Working closely with staff at all levels, you will provide practical advice and support to help services manage risk effectively and continuously improve performance.

This is a varied and dynamic role.  You will support managers in identifying risks, developing suitable and sufficient control measures and embedding effective risk management practices.  You will also contribute to the development of policies, procedures and guidance and support the analysis of incident data to drive continuous improvement.

You will hold a NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent) and have a strong, up‑to‑date working knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.  You will have experience providing professional health and safety advice within a complex organisation and possess the communication and influencing skills needed to build effective working relationships at all levels.  Experience within local government, the public sector or a similarly diverse operational environment would be advantageous, as would experience of working with Evotix Assure or other similar health and safety systems.

This is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week).  We offer a supportive, collaborative working environment and flexible, hybrid working arrangements to help balance your professional and personal commitments.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact John Walter, Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Adviser at
