Summary

Landmarc Support Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Tractor and Rural Estate Operative to join our team at Longmoor Training Camp, Hampshire.

Working across military training areas, woodland, grassland, public rights of way, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), you'll be responsible for the operation of tractors, agricultural machinery and estate maintenance equipment to support countryside management, vegetation control, forestry operations and infrastructure maintenance.

The role offers a varied mix of practical outdoor work including tractor driving, grounds maintenance, grass cutting, hedge cutting, vegetation management, forestry operations, estate management, fencing, track maintenance, conservation projects, habitat management and rural land management.

What you'll do

  • Operate tractors, side-arm flails, mowers, towed implements and agricultural machinery safely and effectively.
  • Carry out grass cutting, vegetation management, grounds maintenance and land management activities.
  • Support rural estate maintenance, forestry operations and woodland management projects.
  • Build, repair and maintain fencing, gates and estate infrastructure.
  • Undertake track repairs, path maintenance and access route improvements.
  • Create and maintain firebreaks across rural and woodland areas.
  • Carry out habitat management and conservation works where required.
  • Complete routine inspections, servicing and maintenance of tractors, plant and agricultural equipment.
  • Follow Health & Safety policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Work independently and as part of a team in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions.
  • Maintain accurate work records and complete basic administrative duties.

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Tractor Operator, Tractor Driver, Agricultural Worker, Estate Operative, Grounds Maintenance Operative, Rural Estate Worker, Forestry Operative or similar land-based role.
  • Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery, including tractor-mounted attachments and 3-point linkage equipment.
  • Practical experience in agriculture, farming, countryside management, forestry, estate maintenance, grounds maintenance or conservation.
  • Experience carrying out routine maintenance and inspections of plant, tractors and rural machinery.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and safely during lone working.
  • Basic IT, map reading and administrative skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Side-arm flail operating experience.
  • LANTRA, NPTC or equivalent agricultural machinery qualifications.
  • Chainsaw qualifications and forestry experience.
  • Brush cutter and strimmer qualifications.
  • PA1/PA6 herbicide application certificates.
  • Experience in conservation management, habitat management or environmental land management.
  • Experience within military, agricultural, construction, rural estates, local authority or infrastructure environments.
