Summary

The Bucks Breast Unit provides a comprehensive service including Breast Screening. It is located in a state-of-the-art purpose built unit at Wycombe Hospital with co-located imaging and biopsy facilities. The Unit is busy, with approximately 6,000 symptomatic referrals, 20,700 women screened annually and over 500 new breast cancers a year (screening and symptomatic). All elective operating takes place within the dedicated Surgical Treatment Centre at Wycombe Hospital for day surgery and inpatient admissions. We are able to offer a full range of breast procedures including oncoplastic breast conservation and mastectomy with immediate and delayed reconstruction. There is close collaboration with the Plastic Surgery unit and we offer on-site free-flap immediate reconstruction, and jointly operate on complex cases. There are regular breast reconstruction awareness evenings and commencing shortly an oncoplastic MDM.
