Lift & Escalator Operations Support - Office Based - Canary Wharf - £45,000
CBW Staffing Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a leading property and estate management organisation for a Lift & Escalator Operations Support professional to join their team at a major commercial estate in Canary Wharf.
This is a varied role supporting the Lift & Escalator Services Manager in ensuring a large portfolio of lifts and escalators remains safe, compliant, reliable and operating to a high standard.
The role would suit someone with experience in the lift and escalator industry, or a related building services environment, who has a good understanding of technical operations but also enjoys the coordination, contractor management and administrative side of facilities.
What You'll Be Doing Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support compliance with Health & Safety legislation, statutory requirements, CDM and permit-to-work procedures.
- Review contractor RAMS and assist with permit approvals.
- Maintain records relating to LOLER inspections, audits, defects and contractor performance.
- Support the management and updating of the lift and escalator asset register.
Asset & Service Management
- Monitor contractor call-outs, repairs and equipment restoration.
- Maintain accurate asset, defect and maintenance records using SharePoint and other systems.
- Carry out routine inspections and condition assessments of lifts and escalators.
- Monitor planned maintenance programmes, contractor attendance and service performance.
- Help identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, availability and overall service delivery.
Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate contractor activities and monitor performance against agreed standards.
- Track actions arising from inspections, audits and defect reports.
- Support major repairs, refurbishments and modernisation projects.
- Work closely with contractors, engineering teams and internal stakeholders to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
Reporting & Administration
- Keep accurate records of maintenance visits, inspections, repairs and contractor documentation.
- Maintain departmental trackers covering defects, emergency responses and works in progress.
- Prepare KPI reports, dashboards and operational performance information.
- Support meetings, record actions and follow up to ensure they are completed.
- Assist with purchase orders, invoices and expenditure monitoring.
Emergency & Operational Support
- Provide support during lift and escalator breakdowns, equipment failures and passenger entrapments.
- Attend site inspections alongside management and contractors when required.
- Support engineering teams in maximising equipment availability and minimising downtime.
- Assist with any other reasonable duties required by the Lift & Escalator Services Manager.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years' experience within the lift and escalator industry or a related building services environment.
- Good understanding of lift and escalator systems, LOLER requirements and industry standards.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good technical awareness and understanding of safe working practices.
- Comfortable coordinating contractors and managing multiple tasks at the same time.
- A proactive approach with good attention to detail.
