Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant

Birmingham | Full-Time | £20,000–£25,000

You understand the numbers. Now help someone else understand them too.

Are you a Mathematics graduate who enjoys problem-solving, explaining complex ideas and helping others overcome challenges?

Perhaps you've considered becoming a teacher or exploring tutoring, but would like to experience life in a secondary school before deciding on your next move.

KPI Education is working with a welcoming secondary school in

Birmingham seeking a Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant to support its Maths department.

This is an opportunity to take your degree beyond the lecture theatre, develop practical experience and help students build the confidence to tackle Maths with a more positive mindset.

What will you be doing?

You'll work alongside experienced Maths teachers, providing additional support to pupils across the curriculum.

From helping students work through challenging problems to encouraging those who lack confidence, you'll play a valuable part in making mathematical learning more accessible.

Your responsibilities will include:

•

Delivering

1:1 and small-group support across Maths.

•

Explaining complex mathematical concepts in clear, manageable steps.

•

Helping students strengthen their reasoning and problem-solving abilities.

•

Encouraging pupils who find Maths challenging or lack confidence.

•

Supporting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated resources.

•

Promoting independent learning and effective problem-solving approaches.

•

Encouraging positive participation and engagement during lessons.

•

Collaborating with Maths teachers and wider support staff.

•

Sharing relevant observations and feedback on student progress.

What makes a successful candidate?

We're looking for someone who can combine strong academic ability with the patience and communication skills needed to help young people learn.

You'll ideally have:

•

A

Mathematics or closely related degree, preferably at 2:1 or above.

•

Strong mathematical knowledge and subject confidence.

•

The ability to communicate ideas clearly and adapt explanations.

•

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

•

Patience and an encouraging approach towards students who lack confidence.

•

A proactive and positive attitude.

•

A genuine interest in working with young people.

You don't need previous classroom experience to apply.

Tutoring, mentoring or experience working with children would be advantageous, but isn't essential. We're interested in graduates who have the subject knowledge, enthusiasm and personality to make a positive contribution.

More than just a graduate job

If you're considering a future in education, this role offers an opportunity to discover what working in a school is really like while developing skills that will benefit your longer-term career.

You'll have the opportunity to:

•

Gain

hands-on experience in a secondary school.

•

Develop confidence supporting and communicating with young people.

•

Build practical learning support and mentoring skills.

•

Understand how a Maths department operates.

•

Work with students with different abilities and learning needs.

•

Strengthen transferable communication and leadership skills.

•

Gain valuable preparation for

teacher training, tutoring or a wider career in education.

Ready to make your next move?

If you're a Maths graduate who wants to put your knowledge into practice, develop professionally and help young people discover that they are capable of more than they think, we'd love to hear from you.
