Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and forward-thinkingConsultant Upper GI Surgeonto join our surgical team inCornwall.
We are seeking a surgeon with a strong interest and experience inUpper GI surgery, ideally with a specialist interest inbariatric surgeryand experience inrobotic-assisted surgery. The successful candidate will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to the continued development of high-quality, patient-centred surgical services across Cornwall.
About you
We are looking for a Consultant who is:
• Fully trained in Upper GI surgery and eligible for appointment at Consultant level.
• Experienced in complex Upper GI surgery.
• Ideally experienced in, or with a strong interest in,bariatric surgery.
• Experienced inrobotic surgery, or with demonstrable commitment to developing their robotic skills.
• A strong team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Committed to clinical excellence, teaching, research and continuous service improvement.
The role
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
• Deliver a high-quality elective and emergency Upper GI surgical service.
• Develop and expand their specialist interest inbariatric surgery.
• Undertake and developrobotic-assisted surgical proceduresas part of our evolving minimally invasive surgery programme.
• Work closely with gastroenterology, oncology, radiology, anaesthetics, dietetics and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, teaching and training.
• Support the continued development of specialist Upper GI and bariatric pathways across Cornwall.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can bringrobotic surgical expertiseand enthusiasm for developing innovative, minimally invasive approaches to patient care.
