Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Learning Mentor Level 1 (Behaviour) to join a supportive primary specialist setting within our trust, working with our most vulnerable children who need support with SEND, SEMH and behavioural barriers. We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor who will work as part of our team to support learning and behaviour and to work with targeted groups of pupils, providing the essential support (both academic and pastoral) to help them unlock their potential, reduce their anxieties and succeed at Oldgate Lane as well as in their base schools.
About the Role
As a Learning Mentor Level 1, you will focus on supporting our most vulnerable pupils and supporting them to manage their behaviour and support them in being successful in our provision and within their main schools. You will play a crucial role in leading an interest based, long term project approach that will enable our children to succeed within both settings. You will work alongside trust leaders and provision staff to create and lead successful, skills based, hands on learning, with both individuals and small groups of children. As part of the team, you will implement agreed strategies and processes to promote positive behaviour and success within a supportive environment. You will help identify individual needs, develop and implement learning plans, and develop a range of activities and resources to enable our most vulnerable pupils to succeed. You will work with the provision team as well as, at times, the base school to develop long-term plan learning, successful strategies and to feed this back. Your work, with the team, will make a tangible difference. You don’t necessarily need to have worked in a specialist school before. Most importantly, you need to be patient, resilient, approachable and able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations. Experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, emotional regulation or additional needs would be highly beneficial.
