The Role
We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of the successful delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, typically within the rail sector.
You'll act as the principal client contact, leading your project team and collaborating with designers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll draw on multi-disciplinary expertise within SLC and from our partners, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
This is a role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys responsibility, and wants to make a tangible impact in the rail and infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects or a portfolio of smaller projects, ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
• Act as the main client contact throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining open communication and fostering strong, long-term relationships.
• Plan, manage, and monitor design, procurement, and construction stages in line with company procedures and industry standards.
• Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks and opportunities, securing specialist input where required.
• Provide clear leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring alignment on objectives, progress, and safety.
• Ensure all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements are fully integrated into project delivery.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks, including CDM Regulations and HMRI requirements.
• Manage project change control and financial reporting processes, including invoicing and cost reviews.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers and other technical specialists to ensure design and delivery align with client requirements.
• Review and approve key safety and construction documentation (e.g. Construction Phase Plans, Work Package Plans) prior to commencement of works, and monitor compliance during delivery.
• Oversee project close-out, including formal handover, entry into service, and preparation of Health & Safety files.
• Contribute to wider business activities including fee estimates, resource planning, risk management, site inspections, and tender support.
• Be responsible for leading and coordinating a project team that includes an Assistant Project Manager, Commercial Manager, Construction Manager, and Field Engineers, providing clear direction, motivation, and development support.
