Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our friendly and experienced Radiology Nursing Team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

This is a varied and rewarding role caring for patients undergoing a wide range of diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. You will support both inpatients and outpatients throughout their radiology pathway, including assessment, preparation, procedural care, recovery and discharge.

Our Radiology Day Care Unit supports a range of procedures including nephrostomies, ureteric stenting, biopsies, drainages and image-guided injections. The role also provides opportunities to develop specialist skills within interventional radiology, including working as a scrub and circulating practitioner alongside Consultant Radiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a busy, specialist environment and is keen to develop their knowledge and skills within Radiology.

This vacancy is advertised as a full-time post; however, we welcome applications from candidates who are interested in part-time hours and would be happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse within Radiology, you will:

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate high-quality individualised patient care throughout the radiology pathway

• Care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures

• Undertake pre-assessment, preparation, monitoring, recovery and discharge of patients

• Develop specialist Radiology Nursing skills, including supporting interventional procedures as a scrub and circulating practitioner

• Work autonomously and collaboratively with Radiographers, Consultant Radiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team

• Respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition and emergency situations

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional, Trust and departmental standards

• Support students, junior colleagues and unregistered staff through teaching, supervision and mentorship

• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, service improvement and high standards of patient care

• Coordinate the clinical area or lead a shift when required

You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive and adaptable approach and a commitment to safe, compassionate patient care.

If you are looking to develop specialist skills and become part of a supportive multidisciplinary Radiology team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
