About us
Routes Healthcare is a homecare provider, not an agency. We support people in their own homes and in the community, including clients who need clinically led enhanced care and end-of-life care.
What is end-of-life care?
End-of-life care supports people who are likely to be in the last months, weeks or days of their life, so they can stay comfortable and at home where they choose to be. The focus is on comfort, dignity and quality of life rather than recovery. It also means supporting family members, who may be caring for or saying goodbye to someone close to them.
What you’ll do
• Visit clients at the end of their life in their own homes, often as part of a two-person team
• Provide personal care with dignity and respect, including washing, mouth care, skin care and changes of position to keep clients comfortable
• Support with medication as set out in the client’s care plan
• Help with eating and drinking, adjusting to what the client wants and can manage
• Notice and report changes in a client’s condition, comfort or pain promptly
• Offer calm, reassuring company to clients and their families
• Follow the care plan and the wishes the client has set out for their care
Hours
• Full-time and part-time hours, with contracts available after successful probation
• Shifts run 7am–10pm, Monday to Sunday (weekend availability required)
• Shifts are allocated on business need and your availability; once committed, you must complete the full shift
What we offer
• 30p per mile between clients
• Routes Academy training and progression
• 24/7 on-call support
• Wellbeing and mental health support
• No agency staff: you’ll work only alongside employed Routes care workers
• Referral bonus of up to £250
What you need
• Right to work in the UK without employer support
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work
• A reliable, compassionate approach to care
• The ability to stay calm and sensitive in emotional situations
Desirable: 3 months’ paid UK care experience. No paid experience? Ask us about our Care Cadet Programme.
