The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members

, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

To be responsible for the escorting and supporting of service users during

transportation, including those with learning and physical disabilities; older

people and school children, including those with Additional Support

Needs.

The post requires someone to support a small group for pupils with additional and complex needs to travel to school and home again on a school transport minibus.

The successful candidate can be picked up from their home at approximately 7:45am to collect pupils and take them to school for 9:00am. At this point the candidate will be taken home by the driver.

The escort will be picked up again in the afternoon to be at school for 3:15pm to support the transition home. Once the children are all safely home the escort will again be dropped at their home.

The post requires 1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the afternoon each day. 15 hours a week in total - term time only.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and/or Vulnerable Adults or the

    willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to use initiative.

  • Care and compassion when dealing with service users.

  • Ability to cope with the physical demands of the post, for example manually

    handling people and lifting heavy equipment
