This is an exciting opportunity to work within and be part of a growing psychology service, which is based at Royal Preston Hospital. As a Band 7 psychological practitioner within our Clinical Health Psychology Service, you will have a vital role in helping patients to recover after hospital admissions and adapt to life altering physical health conditions, injuries or changes. You will offer specialist psychological assessments, formulations and evidence-based interventions to patients across the range of clinical pathways we deliver. You will also offer consultation to the MDTs you will be working with and staff training across the health community. There will be opportunity to develop understanding of the operational running of an outpatient psychology service as you rotate across each of the pathways of care we provide. There will also be opportunity to shape the patient pathways and experiences of care by contributing to the running and development of the Clinical Health Psychology Service in consultation and collaboration with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Head of Service, clinical colleagues and key stakeholders in the Clinical Business Unit. We have a strong patient experience and governance agenda, and you will have opportunities to contribute to this with our leadership team.
The post holder will ideally have experience of working within a physical health setting and of working with individuals living with long term conditions, persistent pain or neurological conditions. They will also have experience of working within MDT settings and be motivated to learn and capable of building adaptive and collaborative new relationships with a range of other professionals.
There will be an expectation to undertake extended roles and responsibilities within the Clinical Health Psychology Service and to work flexibly across the services overall (including inpatient and outpatient work) as required and directed by the Consultant Psychologist and/or Head of Service.

Duties to include but not be limited to:
• • To provide a specialist adult psychology service across the full range of physical health psychology pathways within the Clinical Health Psychology Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
• To rotate pathways and provide care where greatest need is according to our bi-annual capacity and demand calculations.
• Todeliver highly specialist psychological assessment, intervention, advice and consultation for patients, other health professionals and carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and frameworks governing each clinical area.
• To deliver this work across both inpatient and outpatient pathways, and any other setting in which the service is appropriately provided.
• To contribute to the provision of integrated multidisciplinary care (joint appointments and MDT assessment clinics) across the inpatient and outpatient pathways for patients referred to us by our MDT colleagues.
• To train and support MDT colleagues (and other health professionals) in psychologically informed care (education, consultation and clinical supervision)
• To form positive relationships and work in collaboration with the clinical health psychology team, MDT colleagues and key stakeholders.
• To actively engage in own professional, leadership and operational development, including reflective practice.
• To routinely undertake research, audit and service evaluation projects including reports of clinical activity and effectiveness.
• To contribute to the ongoing development of the care pathways and team.
• To contribute to the patient experience and governance tasks we set as we transform care.
• To work flexibly across CHPs pathways as required and directed by the Head of Service.
