JOB TITLE: PARALEGAL – (CRIMINAL OR REGULATORY DISPUTE RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE)

HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday

Main Purpose of the role:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a highly regarded law firm and join its Criminal or Regulatory Dispute Resolution team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their legal career within a specialist practice, working on a varied range of matters for both private individuals and business clients. The successful candidate will ideally have some experience in Criminal Law, Regulatory Law or Dispute Resolution, together with strong research, drafting and organisational skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities for the Paralegal role:

• Providing comprehensive Paralegal support to the legal team.

• Assisting Solicitors with a varied caseload of Criminal and Regulatory Dispute Resolution matters.

• Assisting with motoring offences, including speeding, drink/drug driving, careless and dangerous driving and other road traffic matters.

• Providing support with regulatory and dispute resolution matters involving private individuals and business clients.

• Extensive client liaison, dealing with general queries by telephone and email on behalf of Solicitors, taking accurate messages and, where possible, dealing with queries appropriately.

• Maintaining regular direct contact with clients by telephone, email and face-to-face.

• Preparing correspondence, legal documentation, statements, case summaries and other documents as required.

• Preparing Court Bundles and documentation for Solicitors and Counsel.

• Proofreading all documentation and making amendments before documents are passed to the Solicitor.

• Conducting legal research and assisting with case preparation.

• Managing diaries and ensuring all appointments, hearings, deadlines and tasks are accurately diarised.

• Ensuring Solicitors and Partners are kept up to date with important dates and deadlines.

• Ensuring all information held on the firm's database is complete, accurate and up to date.

• Ensuring all relevant documents and enclosures are attached to the correct file before posting or sending.

• Assisting with the opening, closing, archiving and retrieval of files.

• Working effectively under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.

• Maintaining accurate and organised case files throughout the life of each matter.

• Ensuring departmental systems and firm-wide procedures are followed at all times.

• Complying with all relevant legislation, regulations and professional requirements, including client confidentiality, Anti-Money Laundering requirements, SRA and Law Society rules, Solicitors' Accounts Rules and data protection legislation.

• Providing a consistently high standard of client care and professional service.
