Summary
Key Responsibilities: Prescription Processing: Receive and review prescription requests from patients, ensuring all necessary details are included. Process and issue prescriptions under the direction of a GP or nurse, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. Manage repeat prescription requests, including reviewing patient history and ensuring prescriptions are renewed as appropriate. Work in collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist Team to review medication interactions, dosages, and patient safety. Collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist Team: Communicate effectively with the Clinical Pharmacist Team to ensure prescriptions align with best practices for medication management. Assist the Clinical Pharmacist Team in conducting medication reviews and audits. Support the Clinical Pharmacist Team by addressing medication-related queries and helping with prescription clarification when needed. Patient Communication: Communicate with patients regarding prescription status, changes, or clarifications. Provide advice on medication collection procedures and ensure patients are informed about their prescription needs. Liaise with the Clinical Pharmacist Team to relay information to patients about new prescriptions or changes in their medication. Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prescriptions, amendments, and clinical reviews. Ensure all prescriptions are in compliance with relevant laws and guidelines, including those set by the NHS, CQC, and other healthcare bodies. Monitor stock levels and ensure the timely ordering of medications in coordination with the pharmacy, while also collaborating with the Clinical Pharmacist Team to avoid medication shortages. Administrative Support: Update patient medical records to reflect prescription changes and renewals. Assist in the coordination of prescription-related queries with pharmacies and GPs, working alongside the Clinical Pharmacist Team to resolve issues. Support the administrative team with other general practice clerical duties as required. Confidentiality & Data Protection: Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines regarding patient information, in compliance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR). Handle prescription information securely and ensure any patient data is protected at all times.
