Summary

Morson Edge are working with a leading provider of metering services within the UK energy retail sector to recruit a Meter Reader to cover the Oxford area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is self-motivated and thrives in an independent role. You will play a key role within the Metering team, responsible for collecting accurate meter readings across residential and commercial properties while delivering excellent customer service on behalf of some of the UK’s leading energy suppliers.

Full training is provided before moving into the field, giving you the skills and knowledge required to work confidently and independently.

The Opportunity

As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for visiting residential and commercial properties to collect gas, electricity and water meter readings using a handheld device.

You will plan your daily routes, travel between properties and accurately record meter information while ensuring a high level of customer service and professionalism at every visit.

This is an active outdoor role involving walking, driving and working in all weather conditions. You will need to be comfortable working independently and managing your own workload while maintaining accuracy and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Visit residential and commercial properties to obtain accurate gas, electricity and water meter readings.

Record meter readings accurately using a handheld data collection device.

Plan and manage your daily route effectively to maximise productivity.

Provide excellent customer service when interacting with customers.

Gain access to internal and external meters safely and professionally.

Work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

Follow all company health and safety procedures while working in the field.

Represent the company professionally when visiting customer properties.

Ensure all customer information and meter data is recorded correctly.

Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Essential Skills & Experience

Full UK manual driving licence (no more than 6 points).

Previous customer service experience is desirable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Ability to walk several miles each day.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.

Flexible approach to tasks and working hours.

Friendly, professional and reliable approach.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Successful applicants must be able to:

Provide a full five-year employment history.

Successfully complete company screening and vetting checks.

Pass a DBS check.

Complete the required training programme before working independently in the field.
