Summary

The job requires an accessible and responsive team member with clinical responsibility for ENT patients. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be expected to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice to ensure agreed standards, objectives are met. The post holder will take a shared role in the clinical assessment and treatment of ENT patients in surgical inpatient and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will form part of the ENT ward round team and be responsible for reviewing/assessing patients, who will be a mix of acutely unwell and elective pathway and for their ongoing management. The CNS will be required at times to work autonomously and aid in clinical diagnosis and treatment plans, working closely with senior medical and nursing staff. This will progress to involvement in reviewing patients in clinic. To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advice and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries. To undertake nurse led clinics and various nurse led services, ensuring excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivery and evaluation of clinics. To work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and service based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.
