Our client is a market-leading defendant insurance practice with a strong reputation for handling complex and high-value catastrophic injury litigation. Due to continued growth, the team is looking to appoint a number of Catastrophic Injury specialists at Solicitor, Associate and Senior Associate level to join its Manchester or Leeds offices.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside recognised catastrophic injury specialists on some of the most serious and technically challenging claims in the market. The team offers genuine flexibility, with office attendance required just once per week, alongside a highly supportive environment and clear opportunities for progression.

Your new role

As part of a specialist catastrophic injury team, you will:

Handle and assist on complex catastrophic injury and large loss claims valued from £250,000 to multi-million pounds.

Work on claims involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, amputations, fatalities and severe psychiatric injuries.

Act on behalf of major insurers, corporate and public sector clients.

Manage your own caseload (depending on level) while supporting Partners and senior lawyers on the most complex matters.

Draft pleadings, witness statements, reports and other key litigation documents.

Instruct counsel, liability experts, medical experts and rehabilitation providers.

Attend conferences, mediations, JSMs and court hearings.

Advise clients on litigation strategy, liability, causation and quantum issues.

Build and maintain strong client relationships whilst delivering a high standard of service.

The team regularly handles catastrophic injury claims involving brain injuries, spinal injuries, amputations and fatalities, including cases valued into the millions.

What you'll need to succeed

Applications are welcomed from Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives from NQ up to senior associate level

Experience handling serious injury, catastrophic injury or large loss claims valued at £250,000+.

Exposure to multi-track litigation

Experience of complex liability and quantum investigations.

Defendant insurance litigation experience is highly desirable and is essential for those looking at the senior associate level.

Strong claimant catastrophic injury experience will also be considered, particularly at Solicitor and Associate level.

Excellent client management and communication skills.

Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical abilities.

A proactive and collaborative approach to case management.
