Summary
Luma Education Recruitment are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Sports Mentor to support children and young people within an Alternative Provision setting.
The role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for sport, fitness and physical activity who enjoys working with young people and wants to use sport to help develop confidence, discipline and positive behaviour.
Previous experience working with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs would be beneficial, but is not essential.
The Role
As a Sports Mentor, you will use sport and structured physical activities to engage pupils who may find traditional education challenging.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering sports, fitness and physical activity sessions.
Mentoring pupils through positive and consistent interactions.
Encouraging pupils to participate and develop confidence through sport.
Supporting children with behavioural, emotional or educational barriers.
Developing positive relationships and acting as a positive role model.
Promoting teamwork, respect, communication and self-discipline.
Supporting pupils to develop transferable skills both on and off the sports field.
Helping maintain a calm, structured and supportive environment.
Working alongside teaching, pastoral and support staff.
Adapting activities to suit individual pupils and their needs.
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with education.
