Job Introduction
We’re looking for aDomestic Assistantto join ourSodexoteam atIpswich Hospital. Inthis vital role, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environmentfor patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health andwellbeing throughout the hospital.If you have a strong work ethic, an eye for detail,and take pride in delivering exceptional service, this is your chance to bepart of something greater. What you’ll do:
- Carry out routine cleaning duties in line with ward and departmental procedures.
- Clean floors, furniture, beds, bathrooms, toilets, glass and other hospital areas.
- Replenish essential supplies, including soap, hand towels and toilet paper.
- Safely remove domestic and clinical waste.
- Use cleaning equipment, materials and PPE correctly and safely.
- Respond to additional cleaning requests and follow infection-control requirements.
- Report maintenance issues, defects or signs of infestation.
- Communicate politely and professionally with patients, visitors and hospital colleagues while maintaining dignity and confidentiality.
What you bring:
- Basic literacy and good communication skills.
- A friendly, respectful and caring approach towards patients and visitors.
- The ability to follow instructions and work safely at all times.
- High standards of personal hygiene and professionalism.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible and positive attitude, including a willingness to learn.
- The ability to remain calm and effective in busy or challenging situations.
- Manual-handling knowledge or a willingness to complete the required training.
