About the role

You will support a child with complex clinical needs at home and at school, helping them build up their time in school. They communicate through behaviour rather than words, so you'll need to get to know them well, respond to their communication and talk to them throughout care and play. They enjoy their iPad, sensory toys and getting out and about with their family.

You will:

    • Support jejunostomy tube feeding and gastric drain management

    • Monitor and care for a Port-a-Cath

    • Carry out blood glucose monitoring

    • Follow epilepsy, seizure and sepsis protocols, escalating concerns

    • Provide full personal care, including continence support

    • Record care and clinical observations accurately

    • Work with the family, school staff and healthcare professionals

    You will need:

      • At least 6 months' UK care experience, including supporting children with complex health needs

      • Experience with non-verbal communication, epilepsy and behaviours that may challenge

      • Confidence following clinical care plans, including tube feeding

      • Right to work in the UK

      • Flexibility to work days and nights, at home and in school

      • A calm, patient and playful approach

Desirable: experience with gastric drains or Port-a-Cath care; NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.

      What we offer

        • Full specialist clinical training

        • Consistent shifts with the same client

        • 24/7 clinical support

        • Career progression

        • Refer-a-friend bonus of up to £250

Apply today to develop your clinical skills in complex care with Routes Healthcare.
