Summary

I am currently recruiting for a hands-on Temporary Health & Safety Officer to support a busy public sector environmental services team through a period of change and project activity.

This is a practical, site-based role where you'll work closely with operational teams, frontline workers, managers and the Wellbeing Manager to provide additional H&S support across a diverse range of services.

Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of health & safety across fleet, waste and environmental services operations

Carry out workplace inspections, audits and monitoring activities

Assist with incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending improvements

Support managers with risk assessments, safe systems of work and compliance activities

Provide practical health & safety advice to operational teams

Promote positive safety behaviours and help strengthen safety culture across the workforce

Monitor compliance with policies, procedures and statutory requirements

Support health & safety projects and improvement initiatives during a period of organisational change

Build strong relationships with employees, supervisors and managers to drive engagement

About You

NEBOSH General Certificate

Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within operational or frontline environments

Comfortable working across varied environments including fleet, heavy plant, waste management or similar services

Strong investigation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Practical, approachable and able to influence people at all levels

Available to start at short notice or within a reasonable timeframe

Temporary contract until Christmas, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.

The pay rate for this role is £26-£30
