If you're someone who is patient, nurturing and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, this could be a really rewarding opportunity.
A school where children come first
The school places “Success at the Heart of Our Community”, with a strong focus on ensuring children feel safe, happy, valued and listened to.
Its approach is built around three key principles:
Nurture. Inspire. Achieve.
The school has high aspirations for every child and is committed to helping pupils develop their confidence, resilience and independence, while providing the support and challenge they need to achieve their best.
Its values include respect, resilience, honesty, inclusivity, kindness and ambition — and these aren't just words. The school places real importance on positive relationships between children, staff, families and the wider community.
The SEND role
The successful Teaching Assistant will provide consistent 1:1 support for a child with ASD and complex needs, helping them to access school life, learning and wider experiences.
The school has a dedicated Designated Provision for children with Autism, with provision across both KS1 and KS2. Children are supported within a caring and nurturing environment, with personalised learning designed to develop communication, life skills and independence.
Inclusion is a really important part of the school's approach. Children are encouraged to take part fully in school life, including assemblies, break and lunch times, PE, music, Spanish, school events, productions, trips and clubs. Individual integration into mainstream classes is also supported where appropriate.
Your role will include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with ASD and complex needs
Supporting access to learning and classroom activities
Helping develop communication, social and independence skills
Supporting emotional regulation and positive engagement
Following individualised strategies and support plans
Encouraging the child to participate in wider school life
Supporting the development of confidence and independence
Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team
Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the child
Providing a calm, patient and reassuring presence throughout the school day
Who are we looking for?

Can adapt their approach to meet an individual child's needs
