Cover People are currently seeking a reliable and practical School Caretaker to support the day-to-day running of a secondary school in Stockport.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and well-presented environment and enjoys carrying out a varied range of maintenance and site-related duties.
As a School Caretaker, you will help ensure the school premises are safe, secure and ready for pupils and staff each day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Opening and securing the school premises, including buildings and access points.
- Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs around the site.
- Ensuring classrooms, corridors, communal areas and outdoor spaces are clean, tidy and well maintained.
- Completing regular site checks and reporting any maintenance or health and safety concerns.
- Supporting the safe movement and storage of furniture, equipment and deliveries.
- Assisting with the preparation of rooms and facilities for school activities and events.
- Monitoring site security and ensuring visitors follow the appropriate procedures.
- Supporting contractors and maintenance personnel attending the premises.
- Following health and safety procedures and helping maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Reporting faults, damage or any issues requiring specialist attention.
We are looking for a dependable and hands-on individual who can work independently, manage their workload and respond effectively to the day-to-day needs of a busy school environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance or a similar practical role.
- Good practical skills and the ability to carry out basic repairs.
- An understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
- The ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors and visitors.
- A flexible and helpful attitude, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Previous experience working within a school or educational setting would be beneficial but is not essential.
