This post will give opportunities to be involved in a dynamic renal unit which prides itself on delivery of high quality care for its patients and is at the forefront of developing research in dialysis, CKD and AKI as well as leading many quality initiatives across the country

There will be opportunity for development of acute skills work across the renal and medical HDU with close liaison with ITU; invaluable experience applicable across all medical specialties

We provide a wide range of Nephrology outpatient clinics and teaching opportunities within this setting.

You will gain the opportunity to train in invasive procedures in a supportive environment with hands on consultant supervision and training.

Cross site: Includes a requirement to work across other UHDB sites should the need arise.

This post specifically will have the following responsibilities:

- Assessment of clinically unwell patients during haemodialysis sessions

- Working alongside the renal registrars to admit, clerk and manage new admissions to the renal

unit including renal high dependency

- Working alongside the dialysis nursing staff and other professionals to optimise care of dialysis

patients

- Developing skills in dialysis access (temporary and permanent vascular catheters and peritoneal

dialysis catheters)

- Assessment of new dialysis patients to prescribe dialysis with support of senior colleagues

Applicants must hold Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practiceat the time of submitting an application.

Applicantsmusthave:

• MBBS or an equivalent medical qualification

• A valid Advanced Life Support qualification

• A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience, including experience within Acute Medicine or Medical specialties

• A minimum of 6monthscurrent experience within the NHS systems is essential for this post

• Evidence of up to date clinical knowledge in renal and internal medicine specialty and evidence of an understanding of its application

These posts would suit candidates wanting to take up MRCP exam.
