Summary

Job Summary The Practice Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the GP practice, ensuring high-quality patient services, operational efficiency, and compliance with NHS and regulatory requirements. The role includes leadership of staff, financial oversight, and supporting strategic development in collaboration with GP partners and the Primary Care Network (PCN). Key Responsibilities:Operational Management Oversee the smooth running of all practice operations Support appointment systems, workflows, and administrative processes Ensure the practice environment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose Staff Management & Leadership Lead, motivate, and manage clinical and administrative teams Oversee recruitment, induction, appraisals, and training Manage HR processes including absence, performance, and employee relations Financial Management Develop and monitor practice budgets Oversee income streams (GMS contracts, QOF, enhanced services) Ensure effective financial controls, payroll, and reporting Governance & Compliance Ensure compliance with CQC standards and NHS regulations Maintain policies, risk assessments, and business continuity plans Manage complaints, incidents, and patient feedback Patient Services Ensure a high standard of patient care and experience Improve access to services and patient satisfaction Support Patient Participation Group (PPG) engagement IT & Digital Oversight Oversee practice IT systems (e.g., SystmOne) supported by IT Lead Ensure data protection compliance (GDPR, DSPT) Support digital transformation and new technology adoption Strategic Development Support GP partners and Business Manager with business planning and service development Work collaboratively with PCN and external stakeholders Lead service improvement and change initiatives
